Dødheimsgard Live Review+Photo Album 06/12/2024! Last Show for 2024 At Temple Athens!

2024 is in the past but our memories will last forever. Let me take you on a journey and talk to you about the last show I attended in 2024 at Temple, Athens.

 On a Friday night that will never be forgotten. I've never seen Temple that full, the show was sold out and even if I had watched some videos of the band performing live, I was not ready for what I was to witness. Dødheimsgard or shortly DHG is a band that you must see live to understand what I am talking about. I ranked them on my top 5 of my favourite live bands, I must totally see them again live sometime, somewhere in the world. It would be nice to see them again at Temple, Athens, as it's a lovely venue and the people working there are really nice, one of my favourite places in Athens, where I spend my nights even as a photographer or a client.

 Opening band, Dødsferd from Athens and their strong come back with the album "Wrath". Starting with the song "Restoration of Justice" and with a traditional raw black metal stage presence that reminded the traditional Norwegian one. Surprisingly (positive surprise) due to the plethora of their songs they had enough stage time (about 50 minutes), enough for all of us to enjoy them.

It was a last minute "Yes" (that I was accepted to photograph DHG that night and thank you for that experience) and I was so happy as there were no tickets left. Everything was gone. The venue was full of people and full of Vicotnik's performance, who crawled along the whole venue, jumped on the crowd, made intelligent crazy jokes, sang in our faces, screamed in my face, microphone stands falling, chaos, I felt like I was in my natural habitat. The rest of the band joining the chaos and most importantly the music was good.

The Norwegians were not alone that night on stage as they had some guests that enriched the ritual. With some help of Pulsar 1081 (ambient/electro), the Djs, as we called them playfully and Irini Papadopoulou (vocalist of Absinthe Green) the stage turned into a metal orchestra.

DHG played songs from multiple albums, from the first,the second,the one hundredth. I have also taken a photo of the setlist for you, it can be found below. You are welcome.

Amazing DHG hope to see you again soon, lovely Temple Athens, I'll be seeing you very soon for sure.

LIVE REVIEW: AUSTERE LIVE AT TEMPLE ATHENS & PHOTO ALBUM 29/09/2024

Austere  come out of the darkness this year with "Beneath the threshold tour" for only 7 live unforgettable performances. Athens had the pleasure to experience the Australian dark ritual on September 29, 2024 and we could feel all those mixed emotions a depressive black metal project can give you. It was a night to remember at the most right place, the Temple, in the nightlife heart of Athens. It was a show with both ethereal and dark vibes that made it a night to remember.

Not many info about the band can be found online as it is an underground project only for the lucky ones and their live performances are limited.

Some information someone can find about Austere on the metal-archive.com are the following:

According to Desolate, Austere technically started before 2005 as a solo project of his, but he did not release anything until 2007, when Sorrow had already joined the project. The band eventually split up on May 19, 2010 and returned in 2021.

Austere played their first live performance on July 28th, 2022 at the Dark Bombastic Evening in Alba Iulia, Romania with the following line-up:
- Tim Yatras (drums, vocals)
- Mitch Keepin (guitars, vocals)
- David Conrad (guitars, vocals)
- Paolo Bruno (bass)

Compilation appearances:
- "Just for a Moment..." on Fear Candy 70 (Terrorizer Magazine, 2009)
- "To Fade with the Dusk" on Jericho Vol.1 - Introduction to My End (2014)
- "When Even Tomorrow Looks Away" and "Unending Night" on Those Opposed 15​-Year Anniversary Compilation 2006​-​2021 (Those Opposed Records, digital, December 2021)
- "This Dreadful Emptiness" on Prophecy Fest 2022 Programme + Audio Companion (Prophecy, 2022)

As for the opening act, INFERNAL STORM come from Kozani-Greece, founded in 2021 by the 16-year-old  Agis Tzoukopoulos (guitar, bass, drums), who released their first work called "On Thorns ov Hell" with the help of Giannis Seviloglou (vocals) and Makis Kavoukas (keyboards). "On Thorns ov Hell" was released on cassette by Askio Productions and has a duration of approximately 9 minutes.

The band plays a kind of atmospheric Black Metal with many ambient elements.

Agis T. considers INFERNAL STORM as his personal project and not a band.

If you are asking me, I would have never guessed that this was a project by a 16 year old person, as the live performance we experienced was really solid and musicians looked quite experienced. Quite impressive for his young age and a really pleasant show and performance. It was a great choice as an opening band and everyone who was there can confirm.
