PANZERFAUST (Black Metal from Canada) live @ Temple,Athens GR 30/06/2024 photo by Nayia K.Rose |
I'm being a little late at the party, after a few (very painful) doctor visits and excactly after that, having to leave the country to cover a festival in Transylvania, I made it, I am alive , I am back, I am missing only a tooth, everything else is in the right place... I think... And now is time for that sweet and black and warm night in June the 30rd in Athens, at Gazi where all the nightlife and the parties of the city take place. Of course at our favourite, one and only Temple.
PANZERFAUST , Black Metal band from Canada, formed in 2005, their themes: Darkness, War, Anti-religion, were for two nights in Greece, one in Thessaloniki and one in Athens. It was my pleasure to photograph them in Athens at the Temple. There was no opening act, it was just Panzerfaust owning the venue. We had to wait a little as it was just one band performing that night, but it was worth the wait.
Some beers later you have forgeten about it anyway, along with everything else you already knew, you know... your name, your existence, your problems. But problems were so long gone anyway, cause it was Black Metal gig night. As more and more people started appearing at the bar, the show started. The Greeks very respectfully and quietly watching their majesty, as the stage presence of the band, the atmospheric take on the black metal, the costumes (talking about the three faced mask the main vocalist, Goliath, wears during the performance) gave us all goosebumps. What makes their set so enjoyable is that they put their soul in it and you can feel it, too. All the members had that dirt on their hands, arms and their clothes, giving me crazy "Dead"(Per Yngve "Pelle" Ohlin from Mayhem) vibes. As a person who loves and admires Dead I really liked the refference. For those who don't know Dead used to dig a whole in the ground, burry his stage clothes and wear them before the show. I didn't have the opportunity to ask Panzerfaust if that was their inspiration, that's just my guess on that. All this life and death atmospheric essense along with the good music and the smoke will live rentless in my head. Their photos turned out amazing, by the way, in my opinion. Very good band to photograph.
First time seeing them live and I left with very good impressions. I am a person who really like theatrical bands. Theatrical bands, followed by quality music, are my all time number one and I would really like to see them and why not photograph them again. Until then, taste them a little... Feel them... by checking the photo album bellow.
